Criminal Justice 2021

Today I come to you with one of my new favorite indie artists, Criminal Justice. This New Zealand-born Industrial pop artist is no newcomer to the music scene, starting his career originally in 2017 at the shockingly young age of 13. Criminal Justice can be directly quoted as saying, “I saw a bunch of remixes of popular songs on Youtube and thought I could do this” for the reason behind starting his musical career. Fast forward 4 years and we’re in 2021 with his newest and hottest release yet, “I Could Run Forever”.

The reasoning behind this artist truly standing out is found directly in the originality of his sound. Criminal Justice mixes the atmospheric sound of Garage Punk and follows it with the melodic flows and lyricism of Indie Pop. Through Criminal Justice’s style and sound, the listeners can easily draw parallels and obvious inspiration from artists such as Mac Miller, Tyler the Creator, and definite hints of Brockhampton. After listening to this artist's entire discography, from oldest release to newest, you can also sense the definite Improvement of ambition, sound, & overall energy rising from release to release in not only the quality of the track but the delivery behind it.

As far as experience, Criminal Justice is a well-vetted member of not only the music scene but the industry. The self-proclaimed Singer/Rapper/Engineer/Producer has not only experienced success in the form of streams, with his top Spotify track current sitting at 850k+ streams, but also the industry. Although Criminal Justice is currently a relatively “small artist”, I consider this to not be the case for very much longer. When speaking on musical investments and catching the next big thing early, Criminal Justice is a definite recommendation to keep your eyes on for the future.

As far as current events, The indie-pop artist just released my new favorite song of the summer “I Could Run Forever”. This song is held together with beautiful and melodic strings in true Tyler, the Creator fashion, with the artist directly crediting Tyler’s recent album “Call me if you get lost” as the direct inspiration behind the track. Although lyrically and delivery speaking, Criminal Justice truly sets himself far apart from the pack in this song, By delivering a steady and entrancing flow over the beat to match the catchy lyrics. This truly is some of Criminal Justice’s best work to date and shows it's just the beginning of a very bright future for this artist.

Stream Criminal Justice’s newest release “I could run forever” On Spotify below or anywhere else you can stream music. As far as the future for this artist he spoke on an album in the works with brand new music and also containing such already released works of his as Lament, Hellhole & his newest release I Could Run Forever.
